Why slow intake loses work
The enquirer instructs someone else. An enquirer who waits days for a call back may instruct another firm, and the firm has no record of the work it lost.
Conflicts take judgement, not just a search. Your practice management system finds exact name matches. The time goes on related parties, company groups and former names, and on judging which hits matter. Paragraph 6.2 of the SRA Code of Conduct stops a solicitor acting where there is a conflict, outside narrow exceptions that need each client's informed consent.
Due diligence comes first. For work in scope of the Money Laundering Regulations 2017, identity and ownership checks are done before the firm takes the client on. The system gathers the documents and lists what is missing.
